Logan Nguyen '25 Extends Undefeated Streak as Jesuit Wrestling Impresses at Mark Fuller Invitational

The Jesuit High School wrestling team had a strong showing at the Mark Fuller Invitational this past weekend, with impressive performances from both seasoned competitors and first-time varsity placers. Meanwhile, the JV squad had a standout weekend at the Cordova JV Invite, where three wrestlers captured first-place finishes.

At the Mark Fuller Invitational, senior Logan Nguyen (215 lbs) continued his dominant season, winning his second tournament title. Nguyen went 4-0, maintaining his undefeated record at 11-0. All of his victories this season have come by pin or tech fall, including a commanding 19-3 tech fall in the championship match. Nguyen's success has been a cornerstone of Jesuit's early-season momentum.

Sophomore Lorenzo Mabalot (285 lbs) and freshman Titus Kessler (144 lbs) both achieved milestones by placing for the first time at a varsity tournament. Mabalot finished 3rd with a 5-1 record, showing grit with a sudden victory win and a hard-fought 4-3 decision in the 3rd-place match. Kessler placed 5th with a 4-2 record, highlighted by a tech fall and a 58-second pin in the early rounds. These results mark a promising start to their varsity careers.

Another freshman, Domenico Delaini (150 lbs), finished in the top 8 at the Mark Fuller Invitational, a notable accomplishment for a first-year varsity wrestler. Delaini earned two wins, including a tech fall and a 4:54 pin, demonstrating skill and potential for future success.

Senior Maximilian Troppmann (175 lbs) displayed tremendous toughness and determination by bouncing back from an early loss to win the consolation bracket. Troppmann recorded multiple pins and a tech fall, finishing the tournament with a 5-1 record and earning valuable points for the team.

Over at the Cordova JV Invite, Jesuit's JV wrestlers also excelled, with three freshmen athletes capturing first-place finishes; David Janssen, Tanner Hall, and Hunter Greenfield

The JV team's success is a testament to the depth of talent within the program and the hard work of Jesuit's younger wrestlers.

Looking ahead, Jesuit will host its first home meet of the season on Saturday, December 21st, where the team will face Mira Loma, Antelope, and Buhach Colony. This event promises to bring exciting competition and an opportunity for the Marauders to shine on their home mats.

Head Coach Chris Carlino expressed pride in the team's efforts and optimism for the season ahead. "We saw a lot of growth this weekend, both at the varsity and JV levels. Nguyen's dominance, first-time varsity placements for Mabalot and Kessler, and strong performances from our JV team highlight the potential we have this season. We're excited to keep building on this momentum."

The Jesuit wrestling team continues to demonstrate promise and determination as they prepare for another big weekend of competition.
