Jesuit High Wrestling Team Shines at Vista Eagle Tournament and Folsom JV Invite

Last week, Jesuit High School's wrestling team competed fiercely at the Vista Eagle Tournament, showcasing their skills and determination. Several athletes stood out, with notable performances and strong finishes.

Logan Nguyen '25 (5-0) dominated the competition in the 216-pound weight class, securing 1st place and earning 34 team points for Jesuit. His path to victory was impressive, with five straight victories by fall, culminating in a 3:13 fall over Akeem Newsom in the championship match. Nguyen's performance solidified his status as a top contender in his weight class.

In the 166-pound category, Xavier Pizano '25 (4-1) displayed his resilience and technique, earning 3rd place and contributing 20 team points. After a tough semifinal loss to Leland Rodriquez, Xavier Pizano bounced back to win both his consolation match and the 3rd-place bout. He defeated Jack Hatch of El Dorado 4-2, securing a spot on the podium.

Tristan Pizano '26 (3-2) also had a solid tournament, finishing in 5th place in the 158-pound bracket. After a tough semifinal loss, Tristan Pizano fought hard in the consolation rounds, ultimately earning a victory by fall over Ezekiel Bellanca of Placer to claim 5th and add 15 team points.

In addition to the Vista Eagle Tournament, Jesuit's JV team competed at the Folsom JV Invite where Domenico Delaini '28 and George Vlahos '26 had outstanding performances, each capturing 1st place in their respective weight classes. Hunter Greenfield '28 also had a strong showing, securing 2nd place in his division. Their victories and placements highlighted the depth of talent across the program and contributed to Jesuit's continued success.

Looking ahead, the Jesuit wrestling team is preparing for some exciting upcoming competitions. The team will face Whitney High School on December 11 in a dual meet. The Varsity team will then compete at the Mark Fuller Invite at Lincoln High School on December 14, while the JV team will participate in the Cordova High School Invitational on the same day. These events will provide more opportunities for the wrestlers to showcase their skills and continue to build on the momentum from their recent successes.

The Jesuit High wrestling team continues to build momentum and is well-positioned for future success as they continue their preparation for the remainder of the season. The results from the Vista Eagle Tournament and Folsom JV Invite reflect the hard work, dedication, and talent of the wrestlers, with several athletes stepping up to earn notable placements. Keep an eye on Jesuit wrestling—these athletes are just getting started!
