The Delta League Championship recently concluded with Jesuit High School's varsity and junior varsity wrestling teams showcasing their talent and determination on the mat. Among the fierce competition, Jesuit wrestlers demonstrated their skills, securing notable placements across various weight categories. 11 wrestlers punched their ticket to qualify for divisional championships this Saturday the 10th at Folsom High School.
Zachary Santana (122), Tristan Pizano '26 (159), and Dante Pizano '26 (140) secured 5th place. Their tenacity was evident as they navigated through tough matchups, showcasing determination and skill on his path to success.
Campbell McDowell (108), Zachary Semon '25 (152), and David Tovar (167) displayed resilience throughout the tournament, finishing in 4th place. Despite facing tough opponents, they all exhibited commendable performances.
Pierre Laborde-Lagrave '26 (115) & Oliver Uniza '25 (287) excelled at the tournament, securing 3rd place. Laborde-Lagrave & Uniza's journey included clinching victory with a decisive decision in the 3rd place matches.
In the 146 category, Jacob Lerma demonstrated exceptional prowess, finishing in 2nd place. Lerma's journey included a commanding victory by fall in the semifinals, highlighting his skill and strategic acumen on the mat.
Grant Anderson '24 emerged as a standout performer in the 192 category, claiming the championship title with an impressive performance. Anderson showcased his strength and technique throughout the tournament, culminating in a decisive victory by decision in the 1st place match. This marks the first Jesuit Delta League Champion in 5 years.
Logan Nguyen '25 delivered a remarkable performance in the 217 category, securing the championship title. Nguyen's dominance was evident as he claimed victory by fall in the semifinals before clinching the title in the 1st place match.
In the Junior Varsity divisions, Jesuit wrestlers continued to impress with their performances. Henry Sperber, Nathan Robinson, and Owen Groves all placed 2nd in their divisions. Lorenzo Mabalot secured 1st place in his weight class.
