Commissioner's Cup
Established in the fall of 2017, the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Commissioner's Cup is a prestigious award program designed to honor the top all-around athletic programs in the section. Highlighting comprehensive excellence in interscholastic sports, the program ranks and recognizes the top ten schools for both traditional boys' and girls' athletic competitions each year. The top-performing boys' and girls' schools are each awarded an official banner crowning them the ultimate Sac-Joaquin Section "Commissioner's Cup" winners for that designated school year.
Standings are calculated using a strict point system based on postseason success: schools earn 5 points for a Section Championship, 3 points for a Runner-Up finish, and 2 points for a semifinal appearance. In team-place sports like swimming, cross-country, wrestling, track, and golf, a third-place finish yields 2 points, while a fourth-place finish secures 1 point (excluding Masters championships). In the event of a tie in the standings, the winner is determined by the total number of playoff appearances across the school year, followed by the school boasting the highest number of outright championships.
Jesuit has dominated the Boys Commissioner’s Cup, winning it every year since its inception, highlighting the school's depth of program and overall athletic excellence. Look below at how each year has played out and how each team helped win this prestigious award.
