Basketball Coach Tim Kelly and Guard Asher Schroeder Honored in The Bee's Best 2024-25

The Sacramento Bee has officially released its prestigious Bee's Best: 2024-25 All-Metro boys basketball lineups and Players of the Year, with Jesuit High School earning top honors. Two key figures from the Marauders' historic season have been recognized for their exceptional contributions on and off the court.

Tim Kelly Named Bee Coach of the Year

Jesuit's head coach, Tim Kelly, has been named The Bee's Coach of the Year after orchestrating the greatest team championship in the 63-year history of the school. Under his leadership, the Marauders crafted an exceptional game plan focused on ball movement and stellar defense, culminating in a 66-53 victory over Los Angeles City Section powerhouse Chatsworth in the CIF State Division II finals at Golden 1 Center.

Despite a heartbreaking last-second loss to Rocklin in the section finals, Kelly and his team remained resilient, ultimately securing the program's first state basketball banner. Reflecting on his team's performance, Kelly said, "Executing a game plan is these guys' superpower."

The players have consistently credited Kelly and his coaching staff for their guidance and strategy throughout the season. Jesuit finished the year with an impressive 27-9 overall record and an 8-1 run in the postseason.

Asher Schroeder Named Large School Player of the Year

In addition to Kelly's recognition, Jesuit senior guard Asher Schroeder '25 has been named The Bee's Large School Player of the Year. Schroeder led the Marauders with an average of 17.1 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. His calm leadership on the floor and relentless work ethic made him an invaluable asset to the team.

Jesuit coaches praised Schroeder as the hardest-working player the program has seen in years, if not decades. His energy, intelligence, and determination fueled the Marauders' historic journey to their first CIF State basketball championship.

The honors for both Tim Kelly and Asher Schroeder underscore Jesuit High School's remarkable basketball season and highlight the enduring legacy of teamwork and perseverance within the program.
