Flames blown out by the Big Red Machine

On Friday, Nov. 8, the Jesuit High School Sacramento varsity football team beat the Lodi High School Flames 42-14, advancing to the quarterfinals of the Division 2 CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Football Playoffs.

After forcing a punt on the opening drive of the game, the Marauders started out strong offensively with running back Jack Patock '25 scoring an 11-yard rushing touchdown early in the first quarter. Kicker Yudiel "Dragon" Mondragon converted the PAT to take an early 7-0 lead.

Following another punt from the Flames, Jack again broke free from the defense to score a 48-yard rushing touchdown. Dragon converted another PAT to extend the lead to 14-0 with just under five minutes to go in the first quarter.

With around two minutes left in the first quarter, Jesuit's defense forced a Lodi turnover on downs. This allowed quarterback Teddy Rios '26 and wide receiver Alex Dewar '26 to connect on a 16-yard touchdown pass in the final minute of the first quarter. Dragon converted on his third PAT of the night to make the score 21-0 Jesuit.

Jesuit continued their first half dominance on Lodi's next possession, forcing another turnover on downs. Running back Miles Hubbard '26 then capitalized on  a 2-yard rushing touchdown. Dragon scored another PAT, giving Jesuit a comfortable 28-0 lead going into halftime.

To start the third quarter, two-way player Ryan Reeves '26 intercepted a pass from Lodi quarterback Chase Whiting to give Jesuit possession. He followed up with a 57-yard receiving touchdown, and Dragon's fifth PAT increased Jesuit's lead to 35-0.

Lodi was able to get on the scoreboard with two minutes to go in the third quarter on a 7-yard rushing touchdown. The Flames converted the PAT, making the score 35-7 in Jesuit's favor.

At the beginning of the fourth quarter, wide receiver Brody Haynes '27 responded with an 8-yard rushing touchdown. Kicker Cannon Davey '25 nailed his first PAT of the night, putting Jesuit up 42-7.

Lodi closed out the game's scoring with a 20-yard passing touchdown, making the final score 42-14 Jesuit.

Jesuit's offense was very efficient, with 247 rushing yards on just 28 carries from a variety of runners and 165 passing yards on only 21 attempts. The defense also showed out, forcing 4 turnovers and a sack.
